UFC 170 Fighter Salaries

A promoter is required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners’ bonuses. However the figures below does not includes PPV bonuses or fight of the night bonuses.

What really caught my attention is how little their pay day is. Sara McMann made 16,000$, sure nobody who she is but she is in the main event. I don’t know how get by with this. She really needed to win that fight to get a pay raise. I knew that UFC fighters weren’t making major sports money (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB). It’s not even close to boxing payout either. But if you really want to survive in that league you need to be at the top of the food chains. Not only you need to be the best fighter, you also need to be an entertainer because entertainment is what fans want. And when you can get fans to pay for $60 PPVs by the hundred thousands that’s when you are getting a bite of the PPV sales and the sponsorship deals comes in.

By the way, the UFC made $1,558,870 in gate revenue. I don’t have the information on the PPV sales.
